The Hendrick Motorsports pair locked the front row spot at Daytona International Speedway.
William Byron who drives the No.24 Chevy starts on Pole ahead of team-mate Alex Bowman in the No.88 car.
Three Fords fired off well with Joey Logano in 3rd, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in 4th as Kevin Harvick rounds out the Top 5.
It didn’t take that long before Stenhouse splits past the HMS pair to snatch off the race lead.
Though, Stenhouse has competition in the front row from the No.95 Leavine Toyota of Matt DiBenedetto.
On Lap 21, The first caution came out when Corey LaJoie picked damage to the right front fender.
Four laps later, the race resumed under green with Stenhouse still leading Harvick.
Going past halfway in Stage 1, Kyle Busch swept past Stenhouse for the lead before Denny Hamlin relegated him down to 3rd.
The 2nd caution came out when Ku. Busch got out of control off Stenhouse before he later collected Bubba Wallace & Jamie McMurray.
Closing in towards the end of Stage 1, Kyle Busch went on to win this stage as he’s off to a great start of 2019 in the No.18 Toyota.
