Cole Custer did have a great day out in the No.00 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing at Texas.
Rather than the usual Haas Automation branding, we instead see Custer sport the Thompson Pipe Group sponsorship on his car for just today.
Custer ran mostly inside the Top 10 before he finished 7th in Stage 1.
During the stage break, he and the No.00 pit crew demonstrated a useful pit strategy that pushed him as high as P2.
He dropped a few positions as low as ninth with ten laps left in the second segment before another throwing another solid tactic on pit road saw Custer gain two more spots before the final stage.
Custer maintained his spot within the Top 5 before he confirmed his eligibility for the Dash 4 Cash $100,000 prize when he crossed the finish line in P4.

It’s a step above this time for Cole Custer having finished two places up from where he finished P6 from Fontana three weeks ago.
Also, that P4 result today marked his first Top 5 & Fourth straight Top 10 of 2018 for Custer and the No.00 Ford Mustang.
He’s still well in position within playoff contention as this is his sophomore year in the NASCAR XFINITY Series.
Not only that, Custer, Christopher Bell, Ryan Preece and Daniel Hemric will their eye on the $100,000 prize.
If Custer can get ahead of the trio, then that will be another huge success reflecting towards his build-up in preparing towards racing at the Cup level shortly.
With a fast race car he had today, Cole Custer can surely guarantee to secure his Playoffs spot if he manages to visit victory lane for the first time this year.
2018 is undoubtedly a step closer to genuinely realizing Custer’s talents at SHR because he’s one of a few drivers to take out this year’s NXS Championship.
