Kyle Larson will seek comeback run next Sunday after a spin saw him finish 28th at Michigan

Kyle Larson’s bid to tie in four Michigan visits in victory lane will have a shot in August.

That comes after when he lost control in the grass it ultimately ended Larson’s chances of winning the FireKeepers 400.

He now moves on with a break this weekend before resuming work both in the Chip Ganassi Racing Race Shop & Sonoma next week.

Race Recap

Despite starting off from a lowly 26th spot, Larson wasted little time jockeying for places as he climbed up to 2nd at the end of Stage 1.

The No.42 car looked problem free following the first segment.

However, a slow pit stop while fixing the left front side during the stage break saw Larson restart in 10th.

Larson tried to pass Kyle Busch for 8th place before he went a bit wide on the high line & spun into the grass off Turn 4.

That left the No.42 Chevrolet with left rear tire & nose grille damage.

He did return out on track after having his car bandaged up.

But, thanks to Mother Nature, the race shortened to only 133 Laps & completed over two stages.

So, that’s not the result Larson hoped for as he entered the mid-season break in 28th.

Conclusion

It’s unlucky that Larson failed to win another Michigan race for the fourth time.

Though, he has a chance to fight back & take out the opportunity to claim four Michigan visits in victory lane at around early August after Watkins Glen.

For now, Larson is taking the Father’s Day weekend off with his wife Kaitlyn and two children, Owen & Audrey.

After that, Larson & the No.42 heads West next week at Sonoma Raceway which is a road course in California.
