Cricket: South Africa (Proteas) Performance Review v Prime Minister’s XI at Manuka Oval

South Africa’s mistakes with the bat continued to disturb them from the last two ODI matches from August v Sri Lanka.

The shots they made with the top order looked hesitant and high-risk as Jason Behrendorff swamped their top-order.

Although, Aiden Markram & David Miller played smart with simple and basics batting through 47 & 45 respectively.

To see Quinton De Kock chop onto the stumps during his first ball is a no-no.

The same when Faf Du Plessis just reached out and slogged straight to George Bailey at mid-off.

And the rest just rushed too early and hence panicked afterward when they realized their time’s up.

Not realizing that 50 overs have plenty of time to build around 300-350 instead stuck with 173.

Yes, don’t forget Kagiso Rabada had to an all-around job on his own and only Lungi Ngidi & Imran Tahir backed him up.

Don’t forget Dale Steyn too who just picked up a wicket.

Steyn may have dropped a bit of pace considering he’s 36, But he still has plenty to offer in firing all cylinders for the Proteas ODI squad.

Not only the willow of the bat in the middle.

But also the ball in hand too as the batting need to improve next time around and learn from their bowlers.

Though, you never know when the Australian ODI’s team depleted.

So it’s possible for the Proteas to bounce back in these three ODI matches plus the solitary T20I game over the next three weeks.
