It didn’t take that long for the Brisbane Heat to recover from their late 1st Innings collapse when James Pattinson dismissed Jos Buttler for five.
Pattinson pitched short with the bounce & pace towards the stumps before Buttler swung and missed as tagged his leg pad.
Buttler made a mistake when his head turned sideways not knowing where the ball plus he backed away.
And it proved hard to get the straight drive away from the ball and through the good ball at the stumps without getting these first two steps right.
Rain and Final Result
By 5.3 overs, rain has invaded Spotless Stadium as play is on hold for the time being.
If the play was to resume, then the cut-off time has to be no later than 10.25 PM AEDT local time.
That would mean shortened overs using the Duckworth-Lewis Stern method, so the Thunder has the revised target chase to win.
So the rain has persisted going into the overnight as Brisbane Heat wins by 15 runs via the DLS Method.
Brisbane Heat now won two recent matches back to back on their away performances:
- Saturday v Perth Scorchers at Optus Stadium by five wickets
- Tonight v Sydney Thunder at Spotless Stadium by 15 runs via DLS Method
On the other hand, Sydney Thunder lost back to back recent matches coming off from the Melbourne Stars by eight wickets at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast.
Thunder haven’t yet won a game since Wednesday, January 2 when they defeated Perth Scorchers at home by one run.
So Brisbane Heat goes 7th in the ladder with two wins & three losses by four points.
Two points ahead of the Heat are Sydney Thunder who sits joint sixth alongside the Melbourne Renegades.
The Thunder experienced three wins and four losses out of their seven-game campaign as of tonight.
In two days, Brisbane Heat will host the Melbourne Renegades at The Gabba in Brisbane.
On Sunday, Sydney Thunder once again plays at Spotless Stadium as they welcome the Adelaide Strikers.
