Stephen Hoiles on the return of the 2020 Super Rugby Season as a domestic only competition, Part 2 Interview

In part two of the four-series interview videos with former Randwick & Waratahs veteran & 16-capped Qantas Wallabies player Stephen Hoiles, we talk about the long-awaited return of Super Rugby next month as a domestic-only competition from New Zealand for only ten weeks.

How would New Zealand’s response to the return of Super Rugby give a series of clues of what Rugby Australia wanted to do in re-connecting their competition?

Will it only have the round-robin or see the Playoffs alongside the usual ten-week matchups?

Also, Stephen gives a rundown of the teams and players here to watch if Australia’s standalone Super Rugby competition does go ahead.

Here’s a list of which teams may be up to play in the planned temporary Australian competition:

  • Queensland Reds
  • ACT Brumbies
  • NSW Waratahs
  • Melbourne Rebels
  • Western Force
  • Sunwolves from Japan but must be based here

He also gets to talk about his views on the Sunwolves from Japan & would they also join alongside the returning Western Force from Perth with the possibility of basing themselves in Australia?

And which Super Rugby side outside from Australia, Stephen will miss out seeing them in the short-term future.
