Rugby 7s Olympic News, Fiji advance to the medal semi-final v Argentina after 19-0 win against Australia

Australia may have won a few penalties but have yet to score when they lacked the execution on the Fiji territory during the 1st half.

It’s something the opposition has gone through a great headstart once Fiji had the ball on hand with one successful try, they also built their defense such as the try-saving tackle on Lachie Anderson just before the two-minute break at 7-0.

Nothing much changed towards the end of this main quarter final game between the two sides, with Fiji who scored two more tries that was enough to advance in the 2nd semi-final v Argentina tomorrow.

The other main semi-final contest will feature New Zealand v Great Britain.

Australia on the other hand just couldn’t find a way to get past the blocks of Fiji that ultimately ended with more lost turnovers, penalties, possession & a scoreless run.

Their gold medal hopes have came to an end but we’ll see the Aussies play v South Africa tomorrow for the 5th-8th place playoff semi final.

The final score is Fiji 19-0 Australia.
